BSE found in Washington State
Sen. Chuck Grassley today issued the following statement after learning that a cow in Washington state has tested positive for BSE. Grassley is the only working family farmer in the Senate. He is a member of the Agriculture and Judiciary Committees and chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
"We don't have a lot of information at this point because it's so early in the process. But it appears that the system has worked and the meat has not entered the food supply. That's good news for producers and consumers. I have no worries about the beef I'll be eating tonight."
