"President Bush was forceful, direct and serious in his presentation today. In a sense, he held out an olive branch by saying that Iraq has a chance to make good on its obligations to the United Nations. Now's the time to do it. If Iraq doesn't make good, and if the United Nations means anything, then there have to be consequences for not abiding by United Nations' resolutions. For the sake of the institution, the United Nations has got to make its own resolutions stick.
"It looks like the President is making inroads with other nations, beyond the important backing of Prime Minister Tony Blair. The President of the European Union is saying that the United States might not even need another resolution to invade Iraq. And Iran is indicating it will remain neutral if the United States invades Iraq."
