Comment on Closing of R.R. Donnelly Des Moines Printing Plant

Sen. Chuck Grassley today issued the following comment in response to the announcement that R.R. Donnelly Printing Company would be closing its Des Moines printing plant:

"I'm very sorry to hear of the closing of the R.R. Donnelly printing plant in Des Moines. The plant and its employees have been an integral part of the Des Moines business community for many years. As the employees and R.R. Donnelly move forward in the transition process, I'll do everything I can to help ensure that workers have access to training and new job placement services through the federal program known as the Dislocated Worker Program."

The Dislocated Worker Program, under the Workforce Investment Act, provides formula grants to States, as well as a national emergency grant account for retraining and adjustment services to laid-off workers to help them return to work, and for increasing marketable skills leading to productive employment.
