Declaration of Iowa as Disaster Area

Sen. Chuck Grassley today responded to President Bush's declaration that the 13 county area struck by storms, tornadoes and flooding beginning on April 8 is a major disaster area. The declaration makes available federal aid in the form of disaster housing, grants or low-cost loans to supplement state and local recovery efforts.

Following is the comment from Grassley.

"I'm pleased that President Bush moved so quickly to help Iowans affected by the storms and floods. The federal aid will give residents and business owners the help they need to recover from the devastating effects of these disasters. I urge those who suffered damage to take photos before cleanup in order to document their damage."
