WASHINGTON – The Des Moines International Airport will receive more than $5 million from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Airport Terminal Program to fund the construction of several new terminal areas. The new Airport Terminal Program was created by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), legislation Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) supported in 2021.
“The Des Moines International Airport serves as a gateway to Des Moines and the State of Iowa, connecting our communities and moving our world-class products to market. Keeping this vital infrastructure up to date will strengthen Iowa’s economy and ensure safer, and more efficient travel to and from our state,” said Grassley. “I supported the bipartisan infrastructure law with Iowa’s future in mind, and I’m glad our state continues to see a return on that investment.”
Under the FAA grant, the Des Moines International Airport will receive $5,357,143. The funds will be used for the vertical construction of several common use terminal areas, modernizing current airport infrastructure and bolstering accessibility and efficiency in the common areas.
