WASHINGTON – A broad set of organizations endorsed the bipartisan First Step Act, which was introduced last week and is backed by President Trump. In a letter to Majority and Minority leaders in both the Senate and House of Representatives, 42 organizations, including faith-based groups and conservative think tanks, called on Congress to pass the comprehensive criminal justice reform package before the end of the year.

“We believe these changes will improve the effectiveness of our prisons and public safety. The First Step Act is a significant step to advance justice and we hope it is just one of many to come,” the cosigners wrote.
