RE:    FCC decision to use Connect America Fund for rural broadband

DA:    Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Senator Chuck Grassley made the following comment about the announcement today that the Federal Communications Commission will direct Connect America Fund dollars to expand broadband in rural America for both fixed and mobile broadband expansion in underserved areas.  In February, Senators Grassley and Tom Harkin wrote to the Commission urging that needed flexibility be given to allow federal dollars set aside for this program to be used to expand this broadband to individuals and businesses in rural America.

Comment from Senator Grassley:

“Broadband access is very important to being able to compete in the Internet economy, and it’s good to see rural America get its fair share from this fund.”
