Grassley: $1.3 Million in Job Access and Reverse Commute Funding

? Sen. Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Transportation will release $1,388,718 for Job Access and Reverse Commute funding to the Iowa Department of Transportation. The funds will be issued to Des Moines, Dubuque, Sioux City; Delaware and Jackson Counties; and the State of Iowa.

"These federal dollars will help low income Iowans get to work. It is important to support state and local efforts to help Iowans keep their jobs so that they can get off government assistance and experience satisfaction and independence," Grassley said.

The Access to Jobs Program provides competitive grants to local governments and non-profit organizations to develop transportation services to connect welfare recipients and low-income persons to employment and support services.
