Grassley: $150,000 in Loans and Grants to Iowa from USDA


 

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded a grant of $42,200 and loans totaling $107,800 to the Poweshiek Water Association in

Brooklyn through the Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program.


 

“The construction of necessary facilities is important in rural

Iowa . This funding will help better serve the residents of Conroy and Watkins,” Grassley said.


 

The Water and Waste Disposal Loan and Grant program provides funding to develop water and waste disposal, including solid waste disposal and storm drainage, systems in rural areas and towns with a population not in excess of 10,000.

 

The funds will be distributed to the Poweshiek Water Association from USDA as shown below.

 

v     A $50,000 loan for 40 years at 3.625 percent interest to help complete a wastewater collection and treatment system for Conroy.

v     A $42,200 grant and $57,800 loan for 40 years at 3.625 percent interest to help complete a waste water collection and treatment system for Watkins.
