WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, has awarded two grants totaling $153,708 to Iowa.
“These funds will help give people new and advanced tools to help create more economic development opportunities in Iowa,” Grassley said.
The funds have been awarded as described below.
v Iowa State University in Ames will receive $123,708 to help provide a series of seminars that will equip local economic development practitioners with the most advanced tools available for assessing local economic conditions and developing action plans to improve them.
v Region XII Council of Governments in Carroll will receive $30,000 to help fund business development assistance for minority-owned construction firms in Iowa by providing new and emerging contractors with training and technical assistance necessary to establish, grow and sustain their businesses. This project will promote the creation of new jobs and support Iowa’s ongoing rebuilding effort following the recent flooding disasters.
