WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the Internal Revenue Service has awarded a $157,000 in matching grant funds to ISED Ventures in Des Moines through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.
“These funds will help expand services that help low to moderate income individuals and families file their taxes,” Grassley said.
ISED Ventures will use the grant funds to help provide free tax preparation services.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program helps extend services to underserved populations and hardest to reach areas - both urban and non-urban, increase the capacity to file returns electronically, heighten quality control, enhance training of volunteers, and significantly improve the accuracy of returns prepared.
