Grassley: $331,170 to Iowa from USDA


 

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded grants totaling $331,170 to Iowa through the Community Facility Grant program.

 

“These funds will help fund equipment and facility improvements to continue to provide the best possible safety for the residents of these communities,” Grassley said.

 

The Community Facility Grant program provides grants to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population. 

 

The funds from USDA will be distributed as shown below.

 

v    Bedford will receive an $84,000 grant to help purchase a fire truck.

v    Clearfield will receive a $62,500 grant to help purchase a fire truck.

v    College Spring will receive a $5,000 grant to help purchase a new emergency warning siren system.

v    George will receive an $84,000 grant to help purchase a fire truck.

v    Schleswig will receive a $4,550 grant to help purchase a new emergency warning siren system.

v    Soldier Community Club in Soldier will receive a $28,120 grant to help pay for improvements to the community center.

v     The Taylor County Board of Supervisors in Bedford will receive a $63,000 grant to help construct a pedestrian bridge connecting Bedford to the Taylor County fairgrounds to eliminate pedestrians walking across the highway.
