Grassley: $388,175 to Iowa from U.S. Department of Transportation


WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants to Iowa totaling $388,175.


 

       "These grants will improve safety and service provided at Iowa airports. It will improve the quality of life for both rural areas and urban communities as well as provide important economic development opportunities,” Grassley said.


 

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded funds to facilitate various airport improvement projects, as described below.

 

·      - A $215,175 grant to the Cherokee Iowa Aviation Authority to acquire land for approaches at Cherokee County Regional.

·       - A $68,500 grant to Clarinda to acquire land to enhance safety at Schenck Field. 

·       - A $104,500 grant to Iowa to conduct a state system plan study that will inspect the pavement condition at 25 airports and to provide recommendations for federal funding of future rehabilitation projects. Inspections will be conducted at the airports in Albia, Ankeny, Belle Plaine, Bloomfield, Burlington, Chariton, Clarinda, Clinton, Creston, Davenport, Denison, Greenfield, Grinnell, Harlan, Iowa City, Jefferson, Knoxville, Lamoni, Marshalltown, Newton, Osceola, Oskaloosa, Pella, Red Oak and Washington.
