Grassley: $48,360 to the Iowa Criminal and Justice Planning Agency from the U.S. Department of Justice

WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs has awarded a grant of $48,360 to the Iowa Criminal and Justice Planning Agency in Des Moines through the Community Prevention Grants Program.

“These funds will help keep at risk young out of the juvenile justice system,” Grassley said.

The Iowa Criminal and Justice Planning Agency will use the funds to reduce risks and enhance protective factors to prevent at-risk youth from entering the juvenile justice systems and to intervene with first-time and non-serious offenders to keep them out of the juvenile justice system.

The Title V Community Prevention Grants Program helps to fund collaborative, community-based delinquency prevention efforts by providing communities with funding and a guiding framework for developing and implementing comprehensive juvenile delinquency prevention plans. The 3-year prevention plans are designed to reduce risk factors associated with juvenile delinquency and decrease the incidence of juvenile problem behavior.
