Grassley: $54,000 to Iowa from USDA


WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded four grants totaling $54,000 to Iowa through the Community Facility Grant program and the Economic Impact Initiative Grant program.
 
“These funds will help Iowa communities purchase equipment to continue to provide the best possible safety for the residents of these communities,” Grassley said.
 
The Community Facility Grant program provides grants to assist in the development of essential community facilities in rural areas and towns of up to 20,000 in population. 
 
The Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program provides grants to eligible communities with populations under 20,000 to assist with projects that provide an economic stimulus to the communities.
 
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded funds to facilitate various projects, as described below.
 
·        Iowa Department of Natural Resources in Des Moines will receive a $6,600 grant through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant program to help purchase an emergency all terrain vehicle, an automated external defibrillator and a first aid kit to provide improved emergency response capabilities in the area of Dolliver Memorial State Park near Lehigh.
·        Maquoketa will receive a $17,000 grant through the Community Facility Grant program to help purchase bunker gear.
·        Monticello will receive a $15,400 grant to help purchase a new ambulance and a $15,000 grant to help purchase a new fire truck through the Community Facility Grant program.
