Grassley: $59,466 to Hedrick Fire Department

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $59,466 grant to the Hedrick Volunteer Fire Department through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

“The storms thousands of Iowans witnessed this summer show just how important first responders are to local safety,” Grassley said. “This money will help make sure the Hedrick Volunteer Fire Department has the equipment and personnel necessary to keep the community safe.”

The Hedrick Volunteer Fire Department was awarded the funds through the Operations and Safety Program. The Operations and Safety Program helps provide training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities to fire departments.

This funding is part of round 42 of the fiscal 2007 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
