Grassley: $737,975 to Cedar Rapids and Waukee Fire Departments


  

WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded $737,975 in grants to the Cedar Rapids and Waukee Fire Departments.  The funds are through the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program.


 

            “As a community’s first responders, we want our fire departments to be fully staffed,” Grassley said. “This funding will provide assistance for

Cedar Rapids and Waukee to recruit and retain firefighters to help the community to feel even more secure.”


 

            The Cedar Rapids Fire Department received $421,700 and the Waukee Fire Department received $316,275 in grants.

 

This funding is part of round 13 of the Assistance to Firefighter Grant program, Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response.  Funds under the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response program are intended to support the hiring of firefighters and the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters.
