WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Orion Boylston of Ames has been selected for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, for the 2013-2014 school year.
Boylston is the son of Terri and Latinus Boylston of Ames. Orion Boylston will graduate in May from Ames High School, where he is a member of the Key Club and the school band. He went to Boys’ State and the Iowa Governor’s Institute at the University of Iowa. Boylston also has participated in ice hockey, cross country, track and field, and baseball.
Matthew Lee of City High School in Iowa City and Jackson Peplow of West High School in Iowa City also have been selected by the Naval Academy for fall admission.
Boylston, Peplow and Lee all were among the Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies. Information about seeking nominations is posted at http://grassley.senate.gov/info/academy_nominations.cfm.
For more than 200 years, these academies have educated and trained individuals to lead and command the U.S. armed forces.
