WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development has awarded $4,950 to Centerville through the Community Facility Grant Program.
These funds will be used to purchase computers and related equipment for the Drake City Library in Centerville.
“Knowledge is the one thing that can never be taken away,” Grassley said. “This funding will help provide the residents of Centerville access to additional educational materials.”
According to the USDA, Community Facility Grant funds may be used to construct, enlarge, or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and community services.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
