WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley said today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development has awarded a $7,920 grant to Lamoni through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program.
Lamoni will use the funds to purchase cameras and equipment for the city’s police vehicles.
“Modern equipment will enable these communities to better respond to emergencies,” Grassley said.
According to the USDA, Economic Impact Initiative Grant provides grants to eligible communities with populations under 20,000 to assist with projects.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
