WASHINGTON- Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Rural Development has awarded $92,000 to Red Oak through the Economic Impact Initiative Grant Program.
These funds will be used to furnish and purchase essential equipment for the 2,996 square foot addition to the Red Oak Public Library.
“The extra space and equipment will greatly improve the Red Oak Library and its ability to serve the citizens of Red Oak,” Grassley said.
According to the USDA, Economic Impact Initiative Grant funds may be used to construct, enlarge, or improve community facilities for health care, public safety, and community services.
Each year, thousands of local Iowa organizations, colleges and universities, individuals and state agencies apply for competitive grants and loans from the federal government. The funding is then awarded based on each local organization or individual’s ability to meet criteria set by the federal entity.
