The Advisory Committee for Trade and Negotiations provides information and advice regarding U.S. negotiating objectives and bargaining positions before and after trade agreements are entered into and on other matters arising in connection with the development, implementation and administration of U.S. trade policy.
"Trade is critical to improving the quality of life for Iowa farmers and businesses. Wythe Willey understands the importance of trade to Iowa and will be a strong addition to this advisory committee," Grassley said.
The 45 members of the Advisory Committee are appointed for two-year terms. The members are to broadly represent key economic sectors affected by trade.
Willey is a lifelong cattleman and farmer in Jackson, Cedar and Clayton Counties and is currently serving as the president of the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. He was also president of the Iowa Cattlemen's Association in 1995 and 1996 and served five terms on the board of directors.
Willey graduated from the University of Iowa Law School and heads his own law firm in Cedar Rapids. He is a member of the Iowa Bar Association Agricultural Committee and the American Agriculture Law Committee. He received his B.S. degree in agriculture from Iowa State University.
