Grassley Assembles CARE Package for Families Devastated by Hurricane Mitch

Iowa Senator Lends Hand to International Humanitarian Organization

Senator Chuck Grassley this week joined CARE International in assembling important packages, which plates, cups, cutlery and other household items, to aid 600 Honduran families who were left homeless in the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch.

Nearly seven months ago, Hurricane Mitch ripped through Central America destroying homes, businesses, bridges, crops, roads, water and sewage systems, and hospitals. Immediately following the storm, CARE responded by providing survivors with emergency food, shelter and water. Now CARE is working to help families rebuild their homes and their community.

"I am pleased to lend my support to such a worthwhile cause. CARE provides much- needed humanitarian aid to some of the most vulnerable people throughout the world," said Grassley. "I'm glad they have given me the opportunity to bring a little hope to a family in need."

CARE International is a non-governmental, development and humanitarian organization currently working in 63 countries worldwide.
