Sen. Chuck Grassley today made the following statement after a meeting between the Department of Labor Assistant Secretary Emily Stover DeRocco and Newton Mayor Chaz Allen. Grassley arranged the meeting, but was unable to attend. His staff has briefed him on the discussions. He will meet with Mayor Allen tomorrow (Thursday).
“The Department of Labor today committed to further helping the workers and the Newton community. The Department and I will host an economic development and community adjustment meeting for city and local leaders, workforce and education professionals, and local economic development partners. It’s my intention to work with the mayor and have this meeting scheduled as soon as possible so we can get the Newton community the assistance they need.”
