WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley said today that Peighton Elizabeth MacLeod of Cedar Falls has been selected for admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the 2012-2013 school year.
MacLeod graduated in May 2011 from Northern University High School. She is the daughter of Shirley and Donald MacLeod.
“Admission to the service academies is highly competitive and a great honor,” Grassley said. “Young people like Peighton MacLeod work very hard to earn this kind of opportunity, and I wish her well and appreciate her commitment to serving our nation.”
MacLeod was among the Iowans Grassley nominated this year for appointments to the U.S. service academies. Information about seeking a nomination is posted at /students/academy-nominations.
For more than 200 years, these academies have educated and trained the best and the brightest to lead and command the U.S. armed forces.
