Seeking to examine the crisis in consumer credit and its relationship to the explosive growth of consumer bankruptcies, Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced that he will conduct a hearing as chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Administrative Oversight and the Courts on Friday, April 11.

"Consumer bankruptcies are reaching unprecedented levels. And while it is common to see a higher number of consumer bankruptcies during recessionary periods, the economy is currently strong. I scheduled this hearing to examine why the current level of consumer bankruptcies is so high," said Grassley.

The hearing is scheduled to begin on the 11th at 9:30 a.m. in SD-226. A list of witnesses will be released next week.
