Senator Chuck Grassley today made the following comment after the Unites States Senate passed the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act.
“In 1982, the last time we reauthorized the Voting Rights Act, I said that it was our duty as Congressmen and women, to guarantee that all citizens have the same opportunity to participate in the political process and to elect representatives of their choice. That right is just as important today as it was 25 years ago. As protectors of the Constitution we must protect the right to vote. I’m proud to have cast my vote to reauthorize this landmark legislation. Today the Senate showed that we are, indeed, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
