Senator Chuck Grassley, Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following comment after the Obama administration released its revised application for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
“The Obama administration has never been totally forthcoming about the DACA program. The administration has failed to work with Congress, and refuses to be transparent about how it’s implementing the program and protecting against fraud and abuse. The program is a haven for loopholes and mischief, especially now with what appears to be a loosening of the education requirements and the lack of verification procedures in place to confirm continued eligibility. What’s just as concerning is the push for approval of even greater numbers of DACA applicants is coming at the expense of those who are trying to obtain green cards to legally enter the United States. It’s no wonder there’s an astounding and alarming number of minors crossing the border since DACA applications seem to be rubberstamped and lawful status is easily obtained.”
