Here’s Sen. Grassley’s comment.
"The Rock Island Arsenal put itself in the best possible position before this report came out. Unfortunately, the Defense Department made some recommendations that were surprising. The Quad Cities area will now have the opportunity to question the Defense Department’s analysis before the independent BRAC Commission. I have no doubt that we’ll fight to the end to show the value of the Arsenal and the work done at this outstanding facility.
"There is a silver lining for Iowa though. Iowa will be getting new facilities for the Guard and Reserves. It’s also positive that the Sioux City and Des Moines Air Guard units came through this first step as good or better than before. There are still questions remaining, but overall these are positive developments for the Iowa Guard and Reserve facilities."
