Grassley: Disaster Assistance Available to Four Iowa Counties

?Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced that disaster assistance is available to Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon and Osceola as contiguous disaster counties. These counties are available for disaster assistance as contiguous counties following the primary designation of a number of southwest Minnesota counties due to the drought conditions in the area from April 1 to June 30, 2002.

This designation makes farmers in these counties are eligible for FSA emergency, low-interest loan assistance from the USDA.

"This is good news for the family farmers in these counties. The drought that occurred this past summer had a big impact on this area and this assistance will help farmers with the losses that occurred," Grassley said.
