Grassley, Ernst Pay Tribute to Suffragettes, Celebrate 100 Years of 19th Amendment
WASHINGTON – One hundred years after women in Iowa, and the country, gained the right to vote, Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), the first woman elected to federal office from the state of Iowa, are paying tribute to the suffragettes who paved the way for women everywhere. In a video, Grassley shares the story of his mother, Ruth Grassley, who was one of the first women in Iowa to cast her ballot under the Nineteenth Amendment.
