Grassley: Federal Dollars to Restore Woodbury Co. Courthouse

? Sen. Chuck Grassley today announced that the Woodbury County Courthouse has received a federal grant for $300,000 to help restore and preserve the 82-year-old national landmark.

"The Woodbury County Courthouse is well-deserving of this generous grant," Grassley said. "I am very happy that the historic site was recognized, and the grant should be a source of great pride for the people of Woodbury County."

The restoration grant came from an organization called Save America's Treasures, which is a public-private partnership of the White House Millennium Council and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The program offers grants to applicants attempting to preserve works of art, significant documents, and historic structures like the Woodbury County Courthouse. The courthouse, located in Sioux City, is the largest public-owned prairie school structure in existence.

Save America's Treasures was established to protect America's threatened cultural treasures in the hope of ensuring that future generations would have the opportunity to experience America's past.
