- Iowa communities will receive nearly $9 million from the federal government for community development, affordable housing and shelter for the homeless according to Sen. Chuck Grassley.

"This federal money will help Iowans improve and grow their communities with better housing and modernized services," said Grassley.

Cedar Falls

$390, 000 in Community Development Block Grant funds.

Davenport

$2,139,000 in CDBG funds.

$729,000 in Home Investment Partnership (HOME) funds.

$75,000 in Emergency Shelter Grant funds.

Dubuque

$1,441,000 in CDBG funds.

Iowa City

$938,000 in CDBG funds.$643, 000 in HOME funds

Waterloo

$1,785,000 in CDBG funds.$737,000 in HOME funds.

CDBG funds are used for housing, waste-water treatment systems, drinking water systems, urban revitalization and other key building blocks for Iowa cities. HOME funds provide assistance to first-time homebuyers, renters and tenants. ESG funds provide shelter for homeless people.
