"Every month, ?Ask Your Senator' gives Iowans a chance to ask questions and let me hear their common sense concerns first hand," Grassley said. "Those who can't see my show through local TV can also take part in representative government by way of their computers."

Since the last cable show, Grassley has held hearings to educate consumers, expose bad practices and explore the extent of consumer satisfaction with the funeral and burial industries. The hearings explored confusion involving pre-need funeral and burial arrangements, the high price of caskets, the lack of cemetery regulation and the high price of funerals and burials.

Grassley also has promoted federal legislation to encourage more farm-fresh food donations to help replenish the nation's food banks. "The Hunger Relief Tax Incentive Act" makes three changes to the federal tax code that would enhance the ability of local food pantries, homeless shelters and non-profit organizations to stock their shelves and help feed hungry area families would be enhanced.

In addition, Grassley has been working to find a solution to the problem facing Iowa veterans who have made little or no money in a given year but remain ineligible for veterans pensions or health care because they own farmland and equipment that exceeds the asset limits under current law.
