Grassley: Korean War Commemorative Pins Available

Sen. Chuck Grassley announced today that he will help make commemorative pins available to veterans who served in the Korean War.

This Sunday, June 25th, marked the official 50th anniversary of the war that took over 54,000 American lives and left more than 8,100 Americans missing in action.

Grassley said the commemorative pins are one way that the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs are paying tribute to veterans of what is known as "The Forgotten War." A commemorative committee has been assembled to honor Korean War veterans and their families with a host of events taking place through July 27, 2003.

Commemorative pins will be distributed through 2003 and Iowans who served in the Korean War are encouraged to contact Grassley with their names, addresses, and years of service.
