WASHINGTON – Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) met with Mayor Tom Lazio, Councilmen Bob Meyers and Marc Roe, City Administrator Philip Rath and Director of Public Works Larry Seals during their visit to Washington, D.C., for the League of Cities conference.
“I was glad to meet with Mayor Lazio and other Ottumwa officials to discuss federal priorities, including water and sewer infrastructure, transportation and flood mitigation. It’s important to hear from the city as it continues to work on meeting EPA’s sewer regulations. I look forward to continuing to assist Ottumwa on these projects and policies so the community can grow and prosper,” Grassley said.
Grassley and the Ottumwa officials discussed the challenges the city is experiencing meeting certain EPA sewer and water regulations. They also discussed broadband deployment, transportation, flood mitigation and other priorities.
