WASHINGTON- Senator Chuck Grassley today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Office of Rural Development has awarded 79 grants and loans totaling $13,072,177 to Iowa through the Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvements Program. The funding to Iowans is approximately 27 percent of the total dollars available nationwide
The Renewable Energy Systems and Energy Efficiency Improvement grant and loan program provides financial assistance to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to support renewable energy projects across a wide range of technologies encompassing biomass, geothermal, hydrogen, solar and wind energy as well as providing support for energy efficiency improvements, helping receipts reduce energy consumption and improve operations.
“By using renewable energy and maximizing our energy efficiency we are decreasing our dependence on foreign oil,” Grassley said. “Many Iowans are taking advantage of this program and helping our state and our nation move in the right direction.”
