Grassley: More Than $1.9 Million to Iowa from the U.S. Department of Commerce


  

            WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration, has awarded five grants totaling $1,952,773 to Iowa for disaster recovery.

 

 “These funds should speed up the response and the effectiveness of the flood recovery process, help minimize dislocations due to flooding and help provide economic development in these areas,” Grassley said.

 

The funds have been awarded to help develop an economic recovery strategy focusing on damage assessment and speeding economic recovery efforts to the communities severely by flooding in the Midwest as described below.

 

v Area 15 Regional Planning Commission in Ottumwa will receive a $140,600 grant.

v East Central Intergovernmental Association in Dubuque will receive a $178,000 grant.

v East Central Iowa Council of Governments in Cedar Rapids will receive a $300,000 grant.

v Iowa Northland Regional Economic Development Commission in Waterloo will receive a $300,000 grant.

v North Iowa Area Council of Governments in Mason City will receive a $139,175 grant.

v Northwest Iowa Planning and Development Commission in Spencer will receive a $131,498 grant.

v Region Six Planning Commission in Marshalltown will receive a $61,000 grant.

v Region XII Council of Governments in Carroll will receive a $150,000 grant.

v Siouxland Interstate Metropolitan Planning Council in Sioux City will receive a $140,000 grant.

v Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission in Burlington will receive a $300,000 grant.

v Southern Iowa Council of Governments in Creston will receive a $112,500 grant.
