Grassley: More Than $2.3 Million to 8 Iowa airports from U.S. Department of Transportation


 

WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants totaling $2,345,634 to 8 Iowa airports.
 
“These grants will improve safety and service provided at local airports across Iowa as well as provide important economic development opportunities for these communities,” Grassley said.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded funds to facilitate various airport improvement projects, as described below.
 
·        Clinton Municipal Airport will receive $150,374 to acquire land necessary to bring the runway safety areas into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.
·        Des Moines International Airport will receive $664,430 to acquire land necessary to bring the runway safety areas into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration requirements.
·        The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids will receive $915,578 to rehabilitate a runway.
·        Guthrie County Regional Airport will receive $38,000 to help fund an updated facility for local and itinerant pilots to create flight plans.
·        Le Mars Municipal Airport will receive $27,271 to extend a runway.
·        Mason City Municipal Airport will receive $258,394 to rehabilitate an apron.
·        Perry Municipal Airport will receive $33,193 to rehabilitate a runway.
·        Sioux Gateway Airport/Col. Bud Day Field will receive $258,394 to rehabilitate an apron.
