Grassley: More Than $2.4 Million to Cedar Rapids for Lead Hazard Control


  

            WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley announced today that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $2,431,876 in Lead Hazard Control funds to Cedar Rapids Housing Services.

 

            “These funds will help keep children and families in Cedar Rapids safe from the dangers of lead in homes,” Grassley said.

 

Cedar Rapids Housing Services will use the funds to perform lead hazard control in 165 units.

 

            The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard Control provides funds to state and local governments to develop cost-effective ways to address and reduce their communities lead-based paint hazards, enforces lead based paint regulations, provides public outreach and technical assistance and conducts technical studies to help protect children and their families from health and safety hazards in the home.
