Da:      Friday, Sept. 30, 2011

Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding whether the taxpayers would have to pay for a technical fix to the LightSquared/GPS interference problem.  LightSquared put out a statement in reaction to the Grassley letter.  Here is a statement from a Grassley spokeswoman in response:

“In his latest letter, Senator Grassley is not taking a position on whether there is or is not a technical fix to LightSquared’s interference problem.  He simply is asking the FCC whether the taxpayers should be left holding the bag regarding a potential fix, especially given that such a potential fix might cost billions of dollars. LightSquared shouldn’t misrepresent Senator Grassley’s words in an attempt to score political points.”

The Grassley letter is available here.
