Grassley Statement at an Executive Business Meeting

 

The two nominees on today’s agenda were re-nominated by the President. We’ll hold them over today and report them out at our next meeting.

 

The Committee Rules are on the agenda again. Following some questions from Senators Durbin and Whitehouse at our last meeting, we reached an agreement to clarify those issues. These rules will allow for the Chairman and Ranking Member to issue a subpoena when there is bi-partisan agreement. They’re ready for a vote, and we can do them by voice vote.

 

There is one piece of legislation on the agenda, the Public Safety Officers’ Benefits bill. This is the first time that the bill is on the agenda and we are still working on details with the House. So it will be held over.
