Grassley Statement on Turnover of Terrorist Daqduq
Senator Chuck Grassley released the following statement after press reports indicate that terrorist Ali Musa Daqduq was turned over to the Iraq government. Grassley sent several letters to the administration urging them to try Daqduq before a military tribunal. Those letters can be found here. Grassley is ranking member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.
“Daqduq is one of the worst of the worst. He’s got a significant record of terrorist activity with Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Quds Force, even training them. The hand-over to the Iraqi government causes grave concerns in my mind that he’ll find his way back to the battlefield where undoubtedly innocent people will be killed. It would have been far better to bring justice through a military tribunal under our direction. And, to add further insult, the decision to turn this terrorist over to the Iraqi government is a slap in the face to the families of the five service members who were killed under Daqduq’s direction.”
