WASHINGTON – The U.S. Senate today passed a bipartisan resolution authored by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Benjamin Cardin (D-Md.) designating the week of November 4 through 8, 2019 as National Veterans Small Business Week. This resolution recognizes the more than 2,500,000 veteran-owned small businesses across the United States that generate $1.1 trillion in business receipts every year.
“Veterans have a big impact on the American economy…. In Iowa, there are 26,119 veteran owned businesses that employ 51.801 people and bring in $10.9 million. Iowa is working hard to attract veterans and help them start and expand their businesses. I honor these hard working entrepreneurs who have served our country by joining my colleagues in recognizing the week of November 4th as National Veterans Small Business Week,”  Grassley said .
The National Veterans Small Business Week joins the Small Business Administration in celebrating the millions of veterans and their spouses who benefit from the programs of the Small Business Administration. It also expresses appreciation for the continued service to the United States by veterans through small business ownership and entrepreneurship.
Additional Senate co-sponsors of the resolution include U.S. Sens. Alexander (R-Tenn.), Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Booker (D-N.J.), Boozman (R-Ark.), Braun (R-Ind.), Cantwell (D-Wash.), Cassidy (R-La.), Collins (R-Maine), Daines (R-Mont.), Ernst (R-Iowa), Feinstein (D-Calif.), Hirono (D-Hawaii), Inhofe (R-Okla.), Isakson (R-Ga.), Jones (D-Ala.), Kaine (D-Va.), Kennedy (R-La.), Lankford (R-Okla.), Moran (R-Kan.), Reed (D-R.I.), Risch (R-Idaho), Roberts (R-Kan.), Romney (R-Utah), Rosen (D-Nev.), Scott (R-Fla.), Scott (R-S.C.), Shaheen (D-N.H.), Sinema (D-Ariz.), and Young (R-Ind.).
