Grassley to Visit a Dozen Northwest Iowa Counties


Keeping in touch with Iowans, Sen. Chuck Grassley will visit 12 communities in Northwest Iowa on April 7,8 and 9, during the Easter congressional recess. Grassley will meet with local residents to discuss issues ranging from economic development to education and health care.

On Tuesday, April 7, Sen. Grassley will participate in a open forum hosted by the Hancock County Chambers of Commerce. The open forum will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building in Britt located at 170 Main Avenue South. Immediately following the forum, Sen. Grassley will take questions from the media for 15 minutes.

Following the open forum in Britt, Sen. Grassley will travel to Forest City to take a brief tour of the high school and to speak with two classes of students. He will be at the high school from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and he will take questions from the media on site at 12:45 p.m. Forest City High School is located at 206 West School Street.

Later Tuesday afternoon, Sen. Grassley will be in Gruver to visit Forest Ridge Youth Services from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. This event is closed to the public. Following his tour, Sen. Grassley will take questions from the media from 3:30 to 3:45 p.m. at the Forest Ridge School, 200 Sixth Street.

For his last stop of the day on Tuesday, April 7, Sen. Grassley will be visiting a manufacturing facility in Spirit Lake. The visit to Outdoor Technologies Group, 1900 18th Street, is scheduled to last from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m., and he will be available on site for 15 minutes immediately following the meeting to answer questions from the media.

On Wednesday, April 8, Sen. Grassley will begin his day with a visit to the RuthvenCommunity Care Center located at 2701 East Mitchell Street. From 8:00 to 9:00 a.m., he will tour the facility and speak with residents. Members of the media are invited to ask questions when Sen. Grassley's visit is concluded at 9:00 a.m.

Sen. Grassley will then travel to Hartley where he will tour MED-EQUIP and meet with the staff from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Following his visit, he will be available for questions from the media from 11:00 to 11:15 a.m. MED-EQUIP is located at 155 South Central.

From noon until 1:00 p.m., Sen. Grassley will be in Osceola County for a lunch in Sibley to discuss economic development issues. The Sibley Chamber of Commerce is hosting the gathering. The lunch is open to the public and will take place at The Pizza Ranch, 316 Ninth Street. As with previous meetings, Sen. Grassley will be available to answer questions from members of the media.

Sen. Grassley will then meet with students during an open forum at Rock Rapids High School from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Members of the media will be able to ask questions of Sen. Grassley at the school from 2:45 to 3:00 p.m. Rock Rapids High School is located at 400 South Seventh Avenue.

At 3:30 p.m., Sen. Grassley will visit Interstates Electric & Engineering in Sioux County for a tour of the plant. At the conclusion of his tour at 4:30 p.m., Sen. Grassley will answer questions from members of the media for 15 minutes. Interstates Electric & Engineering is located at 1520 North Main in Sioux Center.

On Thursday, April 9, Sen. Grassley will tour the Plymouth County Museum in LeMarsfrom 8:45 until 9:30 a.m. Following his tour, Sen. Grassley will meet with local residents for 45 minutes in the museum gathering room. From 10:00 to 10:15 a.m., he will be available to answer questions from the media. The address for the Plymouth County Museum is 335 First Avenue SW.

Sen. Grassley will then continue on to Cherokee where he will visit an area where Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds are being used to move houses and businesses out of the Little Sioux River floodplain. FEMA and state funds were used to purchase 200 properties along the river. Sen. Grassley will tour the site from 11:15 to 11:45 p.m. The project is located about two blocks from the Cherokee City Hall, 416 West Main Street. Sen. Grassley was instrumental in securing funding for the project following the 1993 floods in Cherokee.

For his final Northwest Iowa stop, Sen. Grassley will attend an open forum at Alta High School from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. Immediately following the forum, Sen. Grassley will answer questions from members of the media for 15 minutes. Alta High School is located at 101 West Fifth.
