Grassley Weekly Schedule 10/1/13


Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.  Though the federal government is in a partial shutdown, Senator Grassley’s office will continue to answer calls in Iowa and Washington to receive input from Iowans and accept casework.  Incoming email and postal mail from Iowans will be received.  Senator Grassley will hold meetings and participate in Judiciary Committee business scheduled to go on as usual this week.

 

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington from the Iowa Credit Union League, the Associated General Contractors of America, the American Association of Retired Persons, the American Physiological Society, the National Council of Higher Education Resources, Will/WAND, America’s Essential Hospitals, and ACA, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals.

 

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families visiting Washington from West Des Moines and Winterset.


Senator Grassley will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Mike Adams on Agritalk, Jim Turbes on KBWG in Boone, Steve and Dan on WOC in Davenport and Maxine Sieleman on Praise 940 in Des Moines.


On Wednesday, October 2, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Committee hearing on “Continued Oversight of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.”  The hearing is part of a series of oversight hearings on the FISA courts and the protection of citizens’ privacy rights and the government’s legitimate national security interests.


On Thursday, October 3, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The committee may consider the nominations of Robert Leon Wilkins to be United States Circuit Judge for the District of Columbia Circuit, Brian J. Davis to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida, Timothy L. Brooks to be United States District Judge for the Western District of Arkansas, James Donato to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California, Beth Labson Freeman to be United States District Judge for the Northern District of California and Pedro A. Delgado Hernandez to be United States District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico.  The committee may also consider S.42, Criminal Antitrust Anti-Retaliation Act of 2013, sponsored by Senator Patrick Leahy and Senator Grassley, and S.822, Justice for All Reathorization Act, sponsored by Senators Leahy, John Cornyn, Chris Coons, Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken.
