Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week.  The Senate is in session.  
 
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the Iowa Hospital Association, the Iowa Library Association, the Iowa Association of Electric Cooperatives, the Iowa Society of Anesthesiologists, the National Breast Cancer Coalition, the National Brain Tumor Society, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Property Casualty Insurers of America, the American Bus Association, the Emergency Nurses Association, the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Communications Workers of America, the National Council of Behavioral Healthcare, the Greater Des Moines Partnership, the Iowa Brewers Guild, the Iowa Pharmacy Association, the Iowa-Nebraska Chapter of the Employee Stock Ownership Plan Association, the Iowa Automobile Dealers Association, and President Angela Franklin of Des Moines University.
 
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa students from the May term class from Wartburg College in Waverly and Close Up students from the Iowa School for the Deaf in Council Bluffs.  Grassley will also meet with Maria Belding of Pella and Tayvin Schmoll of Sioux City who have been named the top youth volunteers in Iowa for the 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.  

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families from Urbandale, Larchwood, Clinton, Johnston, West Des Moines, and Montezuma.
 
Senator Grassley will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Bob Leonard on KNIA/KRLS in Knoxville/Pella and Cindy Kohlmann on KDTH in Dubuque.

On Tuesday, May 6, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “New Routes for Funding and Financing Highways and Transit.”

On Tuesday, May 6, at 10:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Budget Committee hearing on “The President’s Fiscal Year 2015 Education Budget Request.”

On Tuesday, May 6, at 5:30 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will attend a members only briefing on Ukraine.

On Wednesday, May 7, at 9 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in an Agriculture Committee hearing on the “2014 Farm Bill:  Implementation and Next Steps.”

On Thursday, May 8, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Budget Committee hearing on “The U.S. Economic and Fiscal Outlook.”

On Thursday, May 8, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  The committee may consider the nominations of Carlos Eduardo Mendoza to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida, Darrin P. Gayles to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida, Paul G. Byron to be United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida, and Beth Bloom to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Florida.  The committee may also consider S.1720, the Patent Transparency and Improvements Act of 2013, sponsored by Senators Patrick Leahy, Mike Lee, Amy Klobuchar and Sheldon Whitehouse.

On Thursday, May 8, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing to consider the nomination of Darci L. Vetter of Nebraska to be Chief Agricultural Negotiator, Office of the United States Trade Representative.  Vetter received her bachelor’s degree from Drake University in Des Moines.  The committee may also consider the nominations of Henry J. Aaron of the District of Columbia to be a Member of the Social Security Advisory Board for a term expiring September 30, 2014, and for a term expiring September 30, 2020 (Reappointment); Lanhee J. Chen of California to be a Member of the Social Security Advisory Board for a term expiring September 30, 2018; and Alan L. Cohen of Virginia to be a Member of the Social Security Advisory Board for a term expiring September 30, 2016.
