Here is information about Senator Grassley’s schedule this week. The Senate is in session.
Senator Grassley met with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, the University of Iowa College of Nursing and University of Iowa Hospitals.
Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families from Johnston, Cedar Falls, Cresco, Early and Dubuque.
Senator Grassley was a guest on a public affairs program hosted by Scott Voorhees on KFAB radio in Omaha and will be a guest on public affairs programs hosted by Sally Hart on KCII radio in Washington, Theresa Rose on KILJ radio in Mt. Pleasant, Bob Leonard on KNIA/KRLS radio in Knoxville/Pella and Charlie Stone on KSCJ radio in Sioux City.
On Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 9 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “The IRS Response to Committee Recommendations Contained in its August 2, 2015 Report.” The report released details of the committee’s investigation into the IRS’ targeting scandal. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen will testify at the hearing.
On Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. The meeting was requested by the Commissioner and will cover topics such as whistleblowers, the IRS budget and tax extenders. Senator Grassley’s legislation beefed up the IRS whistleblower office to expose tax fraud, and he works to make sure the agency is welcoming whistleblowers.
On Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “Welfare and Poverty in America.”
On Thursday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. Senator Grassley will preside over the weekly executive business meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
On Friday, Oct. 30, Senator Grassley will attend and speak at the grand opening of the DuPont cellulosic ethanol plant in Nevada, Iowa. Senator Grassley vigorously advocates for the maintenance and strength of the Renewable Fuel Standard. In July 2015, Grassley also secured Finance Committee passage of tax incentives for biodiesel and cellulosic ethanol in a bipartisan tax extenders bill.
