On Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee hearing on “The Adequacy of Criminal Intent Standards in Federal Prosecutions.”
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in an Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee hearing to mark up the Improving child Nutrition Integrity and Access Act of 2016. The bill aims to update the nutrition standards of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, streamline paperwork and improve program integrity. The legislation requires meal standards to be updated to provide relief in the areas of whole grains and sodium and provides assistance to schools in the areas of competitive foods and fruits and vegetables. Senator Grassley has conveyed concerns heard from Iowa parents, students and school administrators over the past few years to Chairman Pat Roberts, and many of the issues have been addressed.
On Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 2:30 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest hearing: “Why is the Biometric Exit Tracking System Still Not in Place?” Grassley secured funding in the omnibus appropriations bill designated specifically for the entry-exit system that has been authorized but not fully implemented since 1996. The funding should help begin the process of building a biometric tracking system to address some gaping holes in the visa system and better secure the borders.
On Thursday, Jan. 21, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Finance Committee hearing on “Healthcare Co-Ops: A Review of the Financial Oversight and Controls.” Andy Slavitt, the Acting Administrator of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will testify.

The committee may also consider the nominations of Mary S.
