Here is information about Senator Grassley's schedule this week. The Senate is in session.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowans in Washington, D.C., from the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Black Hawk County Economic Development, the Associated Builders and Contractors of Iowa, Iowa Mutual Insurance Companies, the National Federation of Independent Business, the Iowa Music Educators Association, the American Nurses Association and the Iowa Hospital Association.

Senator Grassley will meet with 98 Iowa students visiting Washington, D.C., from FFA clubs across the state.

Senator Grassley will meet with Iowa families visiting Washington, D.C., from Marshalltown, Mason City, Pella, Robins, Cedar Rapids, Johnston, Clive, Pleasant Hill, Gilbert, Des Moines, Cedar Falls, North Liberty and Sioux City.

Senator Grassley was a guest on the public affairs program, Dan and Dan, on WOC radio in Davenport and will be a guest on public affairs programs with Trent Rice on KASI radio in Ames and Greg Haubrich on WGEM radio in Quincy.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 9:30 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Committee Hearing on the nominations of Jennifer Klemetsrud Puhl, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit, Donald C. Coggins, Jr., to be United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina, David C. Nye, to be United States District Judge for the District of Idaho and Kathleen Marie Sweet, to be United States District Judge for the Western District of New York.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 2 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will participate in a Judiciary Subcommittee Hearing on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights on “The CREATES Act: Ending Regulatory Abuse, Protecting Consumers, and Ensuring Drug Price Competition.” Grassley is a cosponsor of the CREATES Act.  The bill would help combat rising drug prices for Iowans by deterring brand-name pharmaceutical companies from blocking the entrance of more affordable generic alternatives in the marketplace.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 3:30 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with community and business leaders from Iowa Falls.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 10 a.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will preside over a Judiciary Committee Hearing on “Oversight of the Drug Enforcement Administration.”  Witnesses at the hearing include the Justice Department Inspector General, and a Government Accountability Office official, who will provide updates on their investigations and reports on DEA’s practices.  This includes DEA’s counternarcotics operation in Afghanistan and the use of confidential sources.  Members will be able to ask questions on other areas on the DEA to help keep the agency accountable. 
             
On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 12:45 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will speak at an event hosted by Rights4Girls to highlight his work to combat human trafficking.  As Chairman, Grassley led the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act through the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate on its way to final passage last year.  The bill was signed into law by President Obama on May 29, 2015.  He is also leading an effort to update the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, including a provision seeking alternatives to detention for juveniles who have been trafficked.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 4 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will meet with community and business leaders from Carroll.

On Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 12 p.m. (ET), Senator Grassley will co-host a Cystic Fibrosis Foundation panel discussion on “Innovation and Collaboration: How Federal and Private Partnerships Lead to New Treatments for Cystic Fibrosis.”  Senator Grassley helped launch the Senate Cystic Fibrosis Caucus in April and is now the co-chair. Attending the panel discussion are cystic fibrosis advocates Jaclyn Strube of Waukee and Chaney Kurtz of Clive. Melodee Pomerantz, the Iowa Cystic Fibrosis Foundation chapter executive director, will also be attending.
